We are currently recruiting a technical Author to join our ebs product team, who are responsible for designing and developing ebs, one of our market-leading student information systems offering real-time digital technologies for reporting and communication, empowering staff and students in the Further Education sector.

The role What does the role involve?

We believe that all students should have the same chance of success and that they deserve the right support to help them achieve that, be that academic, emotional or practical. We produce market-leading products for students, tutors and admin staff, which aim to help provide this support in an interesting and engaging way, making a real impact on people’s educational success and their future lives.

The primary job role is ownership of the EBS online help documentation, ensuring that it is kept up to date with our regular software release cycle. The help information is used by a variety of end users (applicants, students, teachers and internal staff), and should be written in a consistent and appropriate style for the intended audience.

You will be involved in developing and maintaining a style guide and converting complex technical terms into user friendly documentation. You will also ensure that all internal documentation is managed, current and accessible to the team.

Your goal will be to ensure that high quality user documentation is produced in line with prescribed timings according to the software release plan and that a consistent style is in place and clearly understood and adhered to, resulting in our customers getting the best possible user experience from our software.

What can I bring to the role?

As well as experience in a similar role where you have written and managed technical documentation within a commercial software production environment, you will have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and the ability to effectively and constructively explain things in a way which is easily understood by others. You will demonstrate strong attention to detail and excellent Written English skills.

Excellent analytical skills are required, and you will be comfortable working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team and to deadlines.

Ideally, you will have experience in MadCap Flare and/or Confluence or similar authoring tools.
