About The Role

Solution Engineering Leads are responsible for defining, building and scaling a team that will partner with Sales, Customer Success, Marketing and Product to grow our customer footprint across EMEA. The Solution Engineering Lead is ultimately responsible for the team’s revenue contribution, customer growth, and solution enablement for their assigned segment. While partnering with the Sales Leaders, this role will be critical in building our solutions engineering team, and be part of both the solutions engineering leadership and EMEA revenue leadership teams.

As one of the segment Solutions Engineering leaders, you’ll get to work on things like:

  • Develop, iterate and manage the engagement model with Sales
  • Optimize an onboarding path for new hires and development paths for current team members
  • Define clear expectations of the Solution Engineering role, as well as job levels and career paths utilizing metrics, goals and skill sets.
  • Coach and amplify the impact of the broader Solution Engineering team.
  • Facilitate a strong team culture based on trust.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop and grow a team of Solutions Engineers.
  • Create a collaborative and engaging culture to reward effective technical sales, responsibility and long term customer success.
  • Collaborate with the Solutions Engineering team and other Solutions Engineering leads to define the SE craft and level of excellence.
  • Coach Solutions Engineers to be technical advisors, solution consultants and expert generalists on the Shopify platform.
  • Lead Solutions Engineers in cross functional initiatives and build partnerships with sales, product and marketing.
  • Identify opportunities to scale the impact of the Solutions Engineering teams.
  • Build and maintain internal relationships (Sales, Launch, Product) while advocating for prospective and current customers.
  • Identify and own initiatives to improve and develop the team’s craft and performance.
  • Coach, mentor and develop the team through strong and frequent feedback.
  • Directly contributing to deals to gain context and understanding of the Solutions Engineer role.

Requirements For The Role

  • Strong technical background, with demonstrated success in R&D, sales and/or customer facing roles.
  • Can demonstrate a clear understanding of metrics based performance coaching .
  • Experience working closely with or directly as a Solutions Engineer individual contributor or leader.
  • Must enjoy being a part of the pre sales process and working with sales teams.
  • Ability to speak comfortably to Shopify’s platform, roadmap, major tech partners, competition, and common customer integrations & challenges. Bring executive presence to customer calls for high visibility deals.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with other teams to create a fuller enterprise experience.
