Working within an Agile development team, the Software Engineer is a key member of the software engineer team. Responsible for using technology to solve problems in an engineering design process. You may create or have responsibility to improve or invent software tools or applications across a wide and varying range of technologies and software languages.

This is a remotely based role offering the opportunity for a great work life balance. When it comes to IT, Toolstation is unique. 90% of all software that runs the company is developed and maintained in-house. Using open-source technologies, everything from our consumer website, our shop tills, to our warehouse stock control has been created from the ground up.

What you’ll bring:

Resolution – Focus on resolving the issue at hand, without laying blame for cause, with a key focus on resolving customer impact.

Decision-making – Considers the information available, identifies options and makes timely and required information to resolve tickets and engineer well-reasoned decisions.

Problem solving – Anticipates problems and their on a regular basis and work together to track impact. They weigh up alternatives and arrive at objectives and manage workload.

Adaptability – Changes behavioural style or method of approach when necessary to achieve a goal; adjusts style as appropriate to the needs of the situation. Responds to change with a positive member to respond to outages and issues.

Planning and organising – Understands own and business priorities. Plans effectively and monitors progress towards achievement of plans. Investigates Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical possible roadblocks and develops contingencies to experience with demonstrable skills and examples of redirect tasks so momentum is not lost.

You will have – You will have extensive experience in PHP/Laravel, Experience of working with OOP, Experience of developing/integrating APIs.
