Job Title: Senior Business Development Director

Location: United Kingdom (Remote)

Position Overview

The Senior/Business Development Director plays a pivotal role in fostering the growth of new business opportunities within established accounts and potential clients. This involves providing leadership for comprehensive business planning, identifying and nurturing sales leads, and collaborating with the Proposal and Contract Specialist to oversee the sales process through contract closure. The Director also takes charge of preparing and delivering project-specific client presentations in collaboration with functional departments associated with the company’s core services and capabilities.

In the sphere of business development, the Director acts as a liaison between the client and the company, managing all aspects of business development activities and requirements. They contribute to expanding the company’s visibility, name recognition, and professional credibility in the market, actively participating in the development of promotional material to enhance the company’s industry recognition.

Internally, the Business Development Director works closely with Project Management and Finance to forge key strategic partnerships with both new and existing clients. Collaboration extends across all functional groups within the company, with the aim of enhancing company performance and fostering positive client relations.

Experience & Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, science, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience in selling services in the CRO/pharmaceutical/biotechnology/life sciences industry.
  • Exceptional presentation skills for the preparation and delivery of high-quality capabilities and sales presentations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven experience in proposal development, contract negotiation, and contract closure.
  • Ability to quickly learn and assimilate the details of project requirements.
  • Flexibility and adept multitasking abilities.

Additional Requirements

  • Driving/Travel requirements – Travel up to 50% (US, Canada, Europe, etc.)
  • Proficient computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • A track record of leading a sales team is also desired.
