Job Description

We are the Environment Agency. Working with Government, councils, businesses, and communities, we create a better place for people and wildlife. You’ll sit at the heart of our work to transform our planning and regulation of the water industry to improve the water environment.

We’re looking for a project support officer to support the Environment Agency’s work on water company Drainage & Wastewater Management Plans (DWMPs). This work will achieve strategically important benefits for the environment across flood risk and water quality.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • arranging face to face, telephone and online meetings, and workshops;
  • drafting agendas, taking and writing meeting notes;
  • responsible for keeping our dedicated SharePoint site up to date by proactively gaining additional resources;
  • managing the team email inbox and logging and managing emails as they come in;
  • creating and updating administration and communication materials such as presentations, structure charts, process flow diagrams and spreadsheets, and managing the updating of operational instructions;
  • supporting the programme manager and wider team, helping to develop and maintain and file project documents and systems.

The team

You will form part of a new, small team focussed on DWMPs in Environment & Business. This is a national role and the team is dispersed across the country. Base location is flexible but a willingness to travel is required.

Experience/skills Required

  • have experience in providing the type of work listed above;
  • be positive, friendly and a team player;
  • be a motivated self-starter, with a can-do approach;
  • be highly organised with good attention to detail;
  • be used to working on your own initiative but also an adaptable team player;
  • be able to balance multiple pieces of work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities;
  • be flexible and able to positively respond to changing circumstances;
  • be able to communicate clearly using appropriate styles and methods to maximise understanding and impact; and
  • be proficient in Microsoft® Word, Powerpoint and Excel. Proficiency in using Microsoft® Project and SharePoint would be useful, but not essential.
