Interim CFO | VC Backed Electric Vehicle Scale-Up | Remote

The Client

We are proud to be working with a fast-growing scale-up business in the EV sector. Our client has won contracts with some of the most established OEMs in the automotive industry allowing them to fast track their European expansion.

Having gone through a tough period of distress, they are looking to build on their success so far this year and having secured over $500m capital since inception the company is looking to appoint a new Interim CFO to take them through their next stage of growth and fundraising. This position will be instrumental in building out the Finance function and driving growth in the business both strategically and commercially.

Based in sleek, inner-city workspace, the company boasts a non-corporate, relaxed culture. They open to both in office and remote based options for this position. The business is looking for further funding to take them towards their target of selling their vehicles in late 2024.

The Role

Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for all things finance – managing the team, partnering with the board, setting policies, managing day to day execution, and being an integral part of driving strategy.

You will take ownership of the fundraising process, working closely with the relevant stakeholders, on fundraising and investor relations activities. You will need to fully understand the fundraising process and have participated in/led multiple fundraises.

The most important criteria are a CFO with relevant functional experience and a flexible, dynamic approach. This will be an incredible role for the right candidate with international travel and a mid-term exit on the cards.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for primary financial aspects of the company.
  • Fundraising, lead process of raising capital alongside CEO.
  • Financial planning and analysis; ownership of the business model, budgets and all FP&A.
  • Financial control; oversight of financial operations and management accounts.
  • Treasury and cashflow monitoring; oversight of cash runway and company spend.
  • Part of the senior leadership team providing regular finance updates.
  • Attend board meetings alongside CEO.
  • Oversee a finance team of 4 people.

Essential Skills

  • Fundraising experience with late stage VCs and institutional investors
  • Experience scaling a business quickly
  • Leadership skills across the management and finance team
  • Able to quickly adapt to change
  • Resilient and keen to work in a fast paced environment
  • Comfortable in a remote working environment

Bonus Skills

  • Manufacturing (especially automotive) background a bonus
  • Experience of working in a regulated company is extremely beneficial

Day rate: £1000-£1500 per day

Location: London/Remote

Start Date: Immediate/ASAP

Contract length: 6 months initially (chance to extend thereafter)
