We’re looking for a talented Assistant Accountant to join our team and provide support in an array of accounting functions across different entities within our organisation. In this role you’ll be responsible for handling day-to-day financial transactions, assisting in the preparation of financial statements, and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
Accountabilities:
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accurate and timely payments and collections.
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring all entries are accurate and up-to-date.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, providing analysis and insight to support decision-making.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns and other statutory filings in compliance with UK regulations.
- Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
- Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of accounting systems and processes.
- Provide administrative support to the finance team, including filing, data entry, and correspondence.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and complete financial information.
What You’ll Need To Succeed
As an Assistant Accountant, you’ll have a strong foundation in accounting principles, excellent organisational skills, and a keen eye for detail. You’ll be passionate about excellent communication and relish the opportunity to work as part of a team or independently.
Essentials:
- AAT qualified or part-qualified in ACCA/CIMA (or equivalent).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably in the renewable energy sector.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Xero) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
