The Role:
As a Community Support Worker – Grants and Welfare, you will play a vital role in delivering essential support services to those who have served or are serving in the police force, ensuring they can live healthy and fulfilling lives despite the challenges they may face. You will be at the forefront of our grants and welfare support services, providing critical assistance to individuals and families in need.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessing grant applications, making informed decisions on fund allocations, and providing direct support to clients experiencing financial hardship, mental health issues, housing instability, and other personal challenges
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of professionals to offer holistic and comprehensive care
- Maintaining accurate records, preparing detailed reports, and ensuring all activities comply with organizational policies and relevant legislation
- Providing guidance and support to applicants on the grant application process
- Identifying and referring beneficiaries to appropriate external resources and services
- Developing and implementing wellbeing programmes tailored to the needs of police officers, police staff, and their families
Who We’re Looking For:
A Community Support Worker – Grants and Welfare who embodies our core values of compassion, empathy, and a non-judgmental approach.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Understanding of Mental Health issues Key principles of recovery and peer support
- Familiarity with housing-related legislation, such as the Homelessness Reduction Act, Housing Act and relevant local authority policies
- Previous experience in a community support worker role is essential
- Previous experience in grants management and welfare support role
- NVQ or Diploma Level 3 in Health and Social Care
- Demonstrable experience within adult social care
- Proven experience in a supervisory role
- Experience in accessing and navigating mental health services or social services
- Evidence of involvement in and understanding of Multidisciplinary Team working
