Logistics Coordinator (Export Controller)

Requirement: based in South Africa; the role is fully remote

Overview

In this role, you will manage the entire export process for ocean shipments as part of the Logistics team. You will coordinate with various stakeholders to guarantee the timely and efficient delivery of goods, handle sensitive information, and manage the complexities of export logistics. 

Key Responsibilities:

1.  Coordinate Export Operations: 

Facilitate the end-to-end export process, including documentation, shipping, and tracking. Collaborate with various internal departments, suppliers, shipping lines/ freight forwarders, and customs agents to ensure smooth execution of export operations.

2.  Documentation and Compliance: 

Prepare and review export documents, such as commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and other essential paperwork. Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, and customs requirements.

3.  Freight Management:

Liaise with shipping lines/ freight forwarders to schedule shipments, and monitor transportation arrangements. Coordinate with suppliers/ manufacturers to ensure timely and accurate loading of export shipments. Assisting in compiling logistics pricing for the sales team

4.  Customer Support: 

Serve as a point of contact for international customers, addressing inquiries, providing shipping updates, and resolving any issues related to export orders. 

5.  Risk Assessment: 

Identify potential risks and challenges in the export process, such as customs delays, transportation issues, or regulatory changes.

Qualifications/ Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proficiency in using G Suite (Google Mail and Sheets)
  • Excellent verbal and written English skills
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in handling of export & cross trade shipments 
  • Freight forwarding experience is advantageous
  • Knowledge of Incoterms 2020
