About the role – QA Automation Lead

This position will play a primary role in planning, implementing, leading, and executing all aspects of Automated Quality Testing. The role requires hands-on AQA expertise, ability to take initiative and develop and evolve our AQA processes. The right candidate will be able to analyse our systems to determine what to test, the priority of those tests and the best way to test. You should understand the requirements, design test procedures and test cases for automated software testing. With a cross departmental focus on accountability for quality you will train and coach software and QA engineers on AQA best practice, tools and techniques.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and evolve formal AQA testing practices, test processes, methodology, standards, and hygiene for agile development efforts.
  • Act as the SME for AQA within the engineering team, driving best practice by coaching Software and QA engineers
  • Support the QA Manager in the development of our QA strategy, test design/plan, test automation, and drive test execution
  • Establish metrics, applying industry best practices, and developing new tools and processes to ensure AQA quality goals are met.
  • Design automated test scripts in Cyprus that are reusable.
  • Support in the development of fast quality feedback loops within our CI/CD pipelines
  • Ensure that all automated testing related activities are carried out as per the standards defined by the company.
  • Support in the evolution and execution of our release activities.
  • Support and co-ordinate the Go-Live activities including the execution of the deployment Plans and checklists.
  • Communicate all key project plans, commitments, and changes including requirements, QA plans, schedule, and scope changes.

Feefo Relationships:

  • With other members of the Software Development team, sharing best practices, coaching, providing advice and liaising on Quality
  • With members of the Product team to discuss new features, clarify requirements and provide end-of-sprint demos
  • With the Systems Operations team when dealing with and diagnosing production issues
  • With the Technical Support team when working with them on Level 3 support escalations

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar technical discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in the software quality field including prior hands-on quality engineering experience
  • Able to write automated tests in JavaScript
  • Prior success using a metrics-driven approach and closed-loop feedback to improve software deliverables and improve predictability and reliability of releases
  • Familiarity with the entire software development life cycle and test cycles (Unit, Regression, Functional, Systems, Performance and Volume, User Acceptance)
  • Understanding of multi-tier web application architecture and deployment.
  • Understanding of existing QA best practices and methodologies to design, implement and automate processes.
  • Agile tools such Jira and Confluence
  • Ability to translate high level requirements into working test cases
  • Goal focused with commitment to meet targets

  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, capable of addressing both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Willingness to work collaboratively within the team and extended team
  • Strong technical understanding of web technologies
  • A passion for helping people solve problems and proven ability to understand progressive technology
  • Understanding business needs while being able to propose practical solutions
  • Professional demeanour and positive attitude
