Cengage’s National Geographic Learning, ELT is seeking an experienced Product Marketing Manager for a temporary maternity cover expected to last for a period of 12 months.

The ideal candidate will have a general understanding of the Marketing planning process and an understanding and ability to contribute to product development. An existing knowledge of the ELT industry is required.

Job Title: Product Marketing Manager (Maternity Cover)

Purpose:

The Product Marketing Manager will be the go-to product expert and is responsible for implementing product strategies for the ELT portfolio of products for EMEA. The Product Marketing Manager will be the key product liaison between editorial, the EMEA sales teams and the Boston Marketing teams.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Take on a more senior position within product development from concept to delivery and provide input and feedback from an EMEA perspective
  • Be the local expert on market needs, trends and opportunities
  • Prepare product strategies and create go-to-market plans in conjunction with the Head of Strategic Marketing, editorial and author teams and market managers/reps for the ELT product lists.
  • Evaluate return on marketing investment when launching product
  • Regular reporting on launch campaigns, adoptions and sales updates
  • Train and educate the sales teams on new product and support with sales kits, webinars, competitor analysis, internal and external positioning
  • Track product development and marketing initiatives in the US and other international markets with a view to repurposing them for the EMEA market where applicable
  • Work with the Design Team to create pre- and post-sales tools, including printed materials, catalogues, power points, and marketing materials for the sales reps at optimum time and within budget guidelines
  • Develop and create materials to support sales in field visits with product presentations and training and with more methodological workshops.
  • Review and monitor current market conditions and competitor activity and adjust marketing strategies accordingly and as necessary
  • Liaison with relevant US colleagues/companies to utilise market and product information effectively and in a timely manner

Marketing information

  • New title information to internal and external customers –including training, sales kits, competitor info
  • Review copies for new product to key industry publications
  • ELT price list – advise on pricing for new product and ensure is in line with competitor offering and matches corporate and digital pricing strategy
  • Responsible for managing the creation of the EMEA catalogues and ensuring the accuracy of all product information

Marketing systems maintenance

  • Ensuring product information is up-to-date in relevant marketing systems
  • Uploading and creating local sales tools using the global templates and messaging
  • Setting up products
  • Updating prices and title information

Online Promotion

  • Responsibility for updating relevant sections of the intranet and communicating changes/additions etc. to the sales team.
  • Assisting with the maintenance of our company product pages ensuring the information is accurate and accessible.
  • Extend marketing messages through different online channels and investigate new opportunities

External conference and exhibitions support

  • Coordinating key author presence alongside the Regional Marketing Manager at conferences and key customer events and seminars
  • Become the key author liaison from a marketing standpoint and that they are kept in the loop and on message
  • Attendance when required at key ELT conferences and events/author tours.

Travel Requirements:

This role is hybrid, with the requirement to attend the Andover office once per month. Occasional travel may also be required to attend conferences.

Essential Role Requirements:

Experience/Achievements

  • Good range of experience working within a marketing or sales department
  • Proven experience dealing with customers, both internally and externally
  • Solid experience working within a busy and varied supporting role

Skills/knowledge

  • Good PC skills with good knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Strong communication skills at all levels and in all formats
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Good organisational and multi-tasking skills
  • Team player suited to a team-orientated and collaborative environment, where knowledge is shared actively
  • Keen attention to detail and follow-through

Qualifications

  • Educated to A-Level or equivalent
