This is an opportunity to take a lead strategic and influencing role on the Ofgem Strategic Innovation Fund – a national programme to transform Great Britain’s energy infrastructure through innovation and deliver a net zero energy system.

Job Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to ensure that SIF funding has maximum impact for consumers, net zero delivery, and the sector. The post will lead a team focused on developing new ways to extract valuable learning and insights from across the funded portfolio and coupling these with energy market insights and the existing knowledge base. The team will be responsible for delivering this learning to regulators, policymakers, investors, and energy professionals in a succinct, digestible manner which facilitates agile and action-orientated decision making with the aim of delivering a net zero energy system at lowest cost and best quality for GB energy users.

Responsibilities

  • Managing a small high performing team with specialist skills
  • Extraction and dissemination of key technical energy, policy, and regulatory insights from SIF projects
  • Working with the Head of Delivery and Head of Innovation to build processes and tools
  • Working with the Strategic Innovation Fund Deputy Director and other organisational leadership to structure future strategy

About you

  • Experience of energy markets, energy network price controls, and OFGEM’s regulatory framework
  • A thorough understanding of the energy system innovation funding landscape
  • A proven track record of developing and delivering collaborative programmes
  • Leadership and influencing skills, developing, motivating and leading teams
  • Compelling written and verbal communication skills and an engaging manner
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to personally manage difficult and challenging stakeholder relationships
  • The ability to be able to effectively review, scrutinise, and contribute to technical economic evaluations and system modelling activities
